About

Residents for Responsible Development (RRD) was formed in January 2026 by neighbors in Halfmoon and Clifton Park who share a deep appreciation for the character, health, and quality of life in our community.

Our group came together after learning of a proposal to construct a concrete batch plant just south of Ushers Road on the west side of Route 9. Many residents were surprised to discover that a heavy industrial use was being considered for a corridor that includes nearby homes, small businesses, and environmentally sensitive areas.

Like many in this community, we are families, homeowners, and small business supporters who chose to live here because of its balance of residential neighborhoods, local commerce, and natural resources. We believe that major industrial projects deserve careful review — particularly when they may affect air quality, traffic safety, water resources, public health, and property values..

RRD supports responsible development. We are not opposed to growth or economic activity.

Our mission is to ensure that any proposal with potential environmental or public health impacts receives a rigorous community oriented transparent review with meaningful public engagement.

We advocate for:

  • Protection of community health and safety
  • Consideration of cumulative and long-term effects
  • Careful evaluation of environmental impacts
  • Preservation of neighborhood character
  • Open access to information and public participation

RRD is a community-based, volunteer organization committed to informed civic engagement. We encourage residents to stay informed, attend meetings, ask questions, and participate in the public process.

Together, we can help ensure that decisions affecting our community are made with full understanding of their long-term impact.
